The band from London, England started making waves in 1970 with their breakthrough fourth album Deep Purple in Rock. The psychedelic powerhouse project went to number 1 in several countries and charted at number 4 in the UK. The record was followed by a series of successful efforts, including the double platinum selling effort, Machine Head, which went to number 7 on the US chart. Over the course of six decades, Deep Purple has released a total 23 studio albums and earned multiple platinum certifications. In 1975, they were named the Globe’s Loudest Rock Band by Guinnes Book of World Record. In 2016, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
