"This summer I decided I wanted to do something big for my birthday," she told DeGeneres. "I'm going on a U.S. tour. It's called It's My Party…It's just a small amount of shows, but we'll be out through June and July."
American singer, actress, dancer and producer Jennifer Lopez first rose to public attention in the early-1990s as a Fly Girl dancer on Fox's sketch comedy television series In Living Color. In 1993, Lopez left the show to pursue an acting career, and had her first big break playing Tejano music star Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in the 1997 biopic Selena. Lopez received a Golden Globe nomination for her role and became the first Latin actress to earn over US$1 million for a film. In 1999, after several more high-profile starring roles (Anaconda (1997), Out of Sight (1998), Antz (1998)), Lopez branched out into music, releasing her debut album, On the 6, in 1999. The album launched the number-one single "If You Had My Love" and the top ten single "Waiting for Tonight", and was certified triple-platinum by the RIAA. Her music and film career continued to grow, and with the simultaneous release of her second studio album J.Lo and her romantic comedy The Wedding Planner in 2001, Lopez became the first woman to have a number one album and film in the same week. As of 2018, Lopez has sold more than 80 million records worldwide, including 40 million albums, and her films have grossed a cumulative total of US$2.9 billion. Forbes ranked her as the most powerful celebrity in the world, as well as the 38th most powerful woman in the world, in 2012, and Time listed her among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018. Her 2011 hit "On the Floor" ft Pitbull is one of the best-selling singles of all time. Throughout her music career, Lopez has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Billboard Icon Award and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award among other accolades.
