Coming straight out of the birthplace of whiskey, Nashville, Tennessee, Chris Stapleton's music has been categorized as a fusion of country, classic rock, and Southern soul. His sound also incorporates elements of outlaw country and bluegrass, as well as rock & roll and blues.

Stapleton performed lead in two bands before launching his solo career, including a bluegrass quartet named The Steel Drivers and The Jompson Brothers from 2008 to 2010.

In December 2017, the musician who has won a total of eight Grammy Awards and is best known for his successful solo debut album "Traveller" released his third studio album titled "From A Room: Volume 2." The album made its debut on the US Billboard 200 at position number two. His most recent album, titled Starting Over, was released in November 2020 and quickly rose to the top spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart. He also concluded the year on multiple "Best of 2020" lists. Additionally, the album Starting Over was awarded Album of the Year 2021 honors by both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. Furthermore, it was selected as the winner of the Grammy Award for Best Country Album in 2022.
